Patriot Network TV
by dovetailedlife
This guy is a community college professor in Arizona. His whole premise is that Obama is going against the American people by siding with the drug cartels and filing a lawsuit to stop Arizona’s illegal immigration codes (SB1070) from going through.
Only a few comments:
- “Let that sink in.” How about, no.
- The President should never be referred to as “Mr. Obama,” but rather, “President Obama.”
- The uses of the words “patriot” and “great Americans” imply that others against the movement are not either. I hate that.
- Videos that are intended to be seen as off the cuff speeches (no obvious TelePrompTers) are always more effective when they also appear unedited.
- “You’re next.” No. Please don’t compare illegal immigration to the Holocaust. It is offensive, severely offensive.
- It sounds like he has been hanging out with Sarah Palin for too long.
- His watch would be cooler if it played music.
- Arizona’s racism and harsh attitude toward illegal immigrants is so last year.
- I still say that our ancestors immigrated illegally here. The Natives hated it.

Hi, Bryant. I found your comments on this Patriot TV spot while looking for something else, and I think you missed the meal for looking at the dishes. See USC Title 8, then read SB 1070, and you will begin to understand the professor’s point.
It appears you believe no laws against illegal immigration ought to be enforced because the Mayflower, et al, were full of illegal immigrants. Keep in mind that for something to be illegal, there has to be a law against. Next ponder this short exchange between distinguished English statesman Sir Thomas More and his future son-in-law who has urged him to arrest a man who might (and in fact did) do him harm in the future.
“While you talk, he’s gone!” says Roper.
“And go he should if he was the Devil himself, until he broke the law!”
“So now you’d give the Devil benefit of law!”
“Yes, what would you do? Cut a great road through the laws to get after the Devil?”
“I’d cut down every law in England to do that!”
“Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country’s planted thick with laws from coast to coast–man’s laws, not God’s–and if you cut them down, and you’re just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I’d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake.”
We are ostensibly a nation of laws, everyone subject to them. It’s the main reason our history doesn’t read like that of some banana republic. The DOJ will be arguing against its own statutes, the ones SB1070 is based on. While I agree with you regarding Mr. Lovell’s reference to the Holocaust, I recognize that he’s trying to address our tendency to unconcern when it’s not our own ox currently being gored. He’s trying to tell you it IS your ox. What if, next time, it’s a state law dear to YOUR heart? The federal government is using every taxpayer’s money to require a sovereign state to use their taxpayers’ money to defend a statute nearly identical to its own, which it is why they will likely not prevail in court. Pretty expensive political posturing.
Before declaring Arizonans racist and harsh and their problems “so last year,” get the facts on everyday life there, including murders, smuggling and kidnapping. Did you know Phoenix is now second after Mexico City in the contest for kidnap capital of the world? What if you or someone you love were the victim of violent crime perpetrated by an illegal who was here because the federal government declined to enforce its own laws? Would you look to your state government for help and protection?
With regard to appellations for the president, read any newspaper, watch any newscast, and you will see/hear the president referred to as Mr. Obama. Next time try not to shoot from the hip. “Have as much sense as an old cow–eat the hay and leave the sticks.”
So, the original immigrants did nothing wrong because there were no laws against it?
I still say that the Natives had the right to the land and we came in and took it.
ALL civilizations have “invaded” lands that were not their own. Is that right? No. The pilgrims came not to invade a land, but simply to find a space where they could practice their religion freely. The facts are, even the native American indian immigrated originally from Asia. Lets stop bringing up ancient history as we can go back in time and find every cultures mistake in invading another’s land. You are completely missing the point. We are a land of immigrants, yet like any society, there have to be limits. We cannot accept everyone! We have embraced millions of peoples from foreign lands. Far more than any other nation. Yet, all of us immigrants have to sometime say, we need to regulate this for the good of the nation as a whole. All nations limit immigration. The U.S. is in a unique position because we are a nation of immigrants, yet we have to put a cap on how many may come at any given time in order to maintain order and be able to provide for the citizens needs that are here. This is not a Utopian world were everyone loves each other and will embrace all new comers with open arms. Ultimately we need to provide for ourselves and others but not beyond our means. This only bankrupts a nation and leaves the whole in a dire position. Therefore, we have laws that, while not blocking immigration, limit it for everyones good.
I love accepting people.
We aren’t Sweden.
Hi Bryant.
Too often we champion the cause of the weak because they have little or no say, but in this case the weaker link (illegal immigrants) as a whole are in fact a very, very big problem with a lot of clout. This country is made up of immigrants, we can all agree on that, but we are first and foremost a nation of laws. The peoples representatives in Congress made laws that limit immigration to protect this nation. Giving people the opportunity to come to this country is a privilege, NOT a right. My wife immigrated from Asia. Some in her family waited 18 years to have the right to come. They waited and obeyed our laws. Why should it be OK for people in Mexico to cross our border, illegally and live here? When they do, the fact is, they become a financial burden on all of us. It is time for the leaders in this country to uphold the laws that make this country orderly. Vying for the hispanic vote is no excuse to forego the laws. It is time the people in our country grow up, take personal responsibility seriously and enforce laws that are there to protect American citizens.
So are we a legalist society?
I really don’t see where you disagree with me except that you don’t like my disparaging remarks against this guy, his attitude, and his thoughts on the issue.
I agree that we have a system set in place for immigrants to use. However, it is infamously a hard system to learn and expensive to navigate. So, because their like suck really bad, they choose to come here.

I agree with everything Professor Lovell has said. Anyone that disagrees needs to get their collective heads out of the sand and wake up.
In return for the rescue loans paphos car hire will trim its deficit, significantly shrink its troubled banking sector, raise taxes and privatise state assets.
